You are looking at a reproduction advertisement from around the 1970s on wood of an 1854 ad for a fine looking dark stallion trotting in a stud harness, he is standing in stud for mares from between "the 4th day of April, until the 1st of August, 1854". Apparently, the stallions name is Plow Boy and he is "Best son of the noted horse IRISH GRAY". He "Will be kept for mares the ensuing season" for "three dollars single service and five dollars to insure a mare with foal." Plow Boy is a "beautiful dapple gray, rising five year old, with bone and sinew not excelled by any horse in Chester County". His father, Irish Gray's "grand sire was the imported horse Yorkshire, his dam was a breed mare, brought from Kentucky, and purchased by Thomas Mason, and sold to Mr. Grubb of Coventry, by whom Plow Boy was raised.". Dated "April 6, 1854 James Whitesides." Good condition, but there are some marks (see pics). It is 18 1/4" tall x 14 3/4" wide x 1/2" thick and weighs 3 pounds, 2 ounces before packaging for shipping.
